The Forge (Roblox) Combat Guide: Ranged Weapons & Tactical Strategy

Why get hit when you can kill from a distance?

In The Forge on Roblox, most players grab a Greatsword and swing wildly. They take damage, burn potions, and die often.

I prefer a smarter approach: Ranged Combat.

Whether you choose the precision of a Bow or the raw power of a Staff, mastering ranged weapons allows you to solo content that melee players can't touch.

Bow vs. Staff: Choosing Your Weapon

Which ranged tool is right for you?

Weapon Comparison Table

FeatureLongbowMagic Staff
Damage TypePhysical (Piercing)Elemental (Magic)
Attack SpeedFastSlow
RangeVery LongMedium
Ammo CostArrows (Gold)Mana (Regen)
Best ForSingle Target DPSArea of Effect (AoE)

My Pick: I use the Longbow for bosses and the Staff for farming groups of weak mobs.

The Art of Kiting

"Kiting" is the essential skill for ranged players. It means moving while attacking to keep enemies out of reach.

How to Kite Effectively

  1. Shoot: Fire an attack to draw aggro.
  2. Move: Immediately run backward or sideways.
  3. Repeat: Stop briefly to fire again, then keep moving.

Pro Tip: Use the terrain. Jump onto rocks or ledges where melee mobs can't reach you. This is how I farmed the Forgotten Kingdom at level 20.

Hybrid Strategies: The "Switch" Tech

You don't have to stick to one weapon. The best players use Hybrid Builds.

The Strategy:

  1. Start with a Bow to deal damage from afar.
  2. As the enemy closes in, switch to a Katana or Greatsword.
  3. Finish them off with melee combos.

This maximizes DPS (Damage Per Second) and minimizes damage taken.

Economics of Ranged Combat

Ranged combat isn't free. You need to manage your costs.

Arrow Costs vs. Potion Savings

Cost TypeMelee BuildRanged Build
Ammo0 Gold2,000 Gold/Hour
Potions5,000 Gold/Hour500 Gold/Hour
RepairsHigh (Armor breaks)Low (Don't get hit)
Net CostHighLow

Verdict: Ranged builds are actually cheaper to run because you save massive amounts on health potions and armor repairs.

Best Races for Ranged Builds

Your race choice matters for ranged efficiency.

  1. Elf: The undisputed king of bows.

    • Passive: +15% Bow Damage
    • Passive: +10% Movement Speed (Essential for kiting)
  2. Fae: Best for magic users.

    • Passive: +20% Mana Regen
    • Passive: Magic damage bonus
  3. Human: Decent all-rounder if you play Hybrid.

Advanced Tactics: Elemental Arrows

Later in the game, you can craft Elemental Arrows by including specific ores in your arrowhead mix:

  • Fireite Arrows: Triggers Ignite (Burn DoT). Great for high-HP bosses.
  • Magmaite Arrows: Triggers Explosion (AoE Blast). Clears groups instantly.
  • Uranium Arrows: Applies Radiation (Poison Aura). Stacks with burn for massive ticking damage.

I save Uranium Arrows for Dungeon Bosses. The poison effect persists even while you're kiting.

Final Thoughts

Ranged combat rewards patience and precision. It's not about mashing buttons; it's about controlling the battlefield.

Once you master the rhythm of kiting, you'll feel untouchable.
